A Deepfake Video Purporting to Show Narayana Murthy Endorsing Trading Apps Has Raised Concerns

<p>Narayana Murthy, the founder of Infosys, reported a deepfake video of himself circulating on social media. He advised people “to not fall prey” to these fraudulent movies and to report incidents of this kind to the relevant authorities. He said that there have been other videos stating that he has invested in automated trading apps on X, the old Twitter. He advised people not to believe in it and denied any role in this.</p>

<p>“There have been many false reports circulated through social media platforms and online websites in recent months, alleging that I support or have invested in automated trading apps such as BTC AI Evex, British Bitcoin Profit, Bit Lyte Sync, Immediate Momentum, Capitalix Ventures, etc. On the microblogging platform, he said, “The news items show up on phony websites that pose as well-known newspaper websites. Some of them even post bogus interviews utilizing deepfake images and videos.</p>
<p>“I firmly disavow any endorsement, relationship, or affiliation with these applications or websites,” he went on. I issue a warning to the public, telling them not to fall for the dangerous information on these websites or the goods or services they are attempting to provide. Please notify the relevant regulatory authorities of any such incidents.”</p>
<p>This occurs a few days after seasoned businessman and former chairman of the Tata Group Ratan Tata published a “fake” notice accusing someone of using his identity on social media to “exaggerate investment” by promising a risk-free, 100% guarantee. Mr. Tata criticized a person named Sona Agrawal on Instagram for using a fictitious interview with him in a video that suggested investments.</p>
