Dharamsala: Sarfaraz Khan, who has been playing well on the local scene, was able to play in his first Test match in Rajkot. And he had a fantastic start in Rajkot, hitting two successive fifties. Later, in Dharamsala, he scored his third fifty in the Test series against England. It is regrettable that Sarfaraz will miss the forthcoming season of the lucrative Indian Premier League, even though he is one of the best players in the current lineup. Since he was not selected by a franchise during the auction, Sarfaraz will not be participating. However, former India opener Aakash Chopra believes Sarfaraz would have found a buyer if the auction had been tomorrow.

“As for me, I’m not all that shocked—in fact, I’m just as shocked that Pat Cummins received 20.50 crore rupees. One crucial consideration is recency bias. He would have received a deal if the auction had taken place tomorrow, Chopra said on Jio Cinemas.

Sarfaraz has been under contract since he was eighteen. “He’s played for two or three different teams,” he said.

As for him, the former cricketer said, “Now we are definitely talking about him, that he plays this or that, but he is doing that here, just like Pat Cummins had won the World Cup.”

Sarfaraz participated in four games with the Delhi Capitals team during the previous campaign. The Capitals let him go before the auction.
